Violations

Violations of any of the stated decal, parking, or moving regulations will cause the offender to be cited. The citation may result in disciplinary action, suspension of campus driving or parking privileges, fines, or lesser sanctions. Fines are payable at the Department of Public Safety within 7 days of receipt. Any fine not paid within 7 days will be subject to an additional late charge penalty of $5.00 as shown in the schedule of fines.

All vehicles parked illegally or not according to University rules and regulations are subject to being impounded.

All flagrant moving violations that endanger life or property, such as reckless driving, driving under the influence, etc., will result in the arrest of the vehicle operator.

All traffic laws and standard rules of the road for the City of Huntsville, County of Madison, and State of Alabama must be observed at all times. Violators will be ticketed.

Decal Violations
  1. No decal or permit on vehicle
  2. Transferring of decal or permit to another vehicle
  3. Displaying expired decal
  4. Decal or permit improperly displayed
  5. Improper or unauthorized use of decal

Parking Violations
  1. Curbside parking - not in marked space
  2. Parking in "No Parking" zone
  3. Parking on or over a line
  4. Parking on lawn, sidewalk, or driveway
  5. Double parking
  6. Overtime parking
  7. Faculty/staff and students parking in spaces designated only for visitors
  8. Backing in or pulling through a parking space
  9. Parking against flow of traffic
  10. Parking in handicapped space without a valid permit
  11. Parking in service vehicle space or on service road

Moving Violations
  1. Exceeding posted speed limit
  2. Disobeying stop sign
  3. Improper turning
  4. Failure to yield right-of-way
  5. Improper passing
  6. Improper lane usage
  7. Following too closely
  8. Failure to stop for pedestrian(s) in crosswalk
  9. Moving wrong way on one-way street
  10. Failure to obey posted traffic sign or signal
  11. Driving on lawn or sidewalk
